To be eligible for the Allowance for special needs, you must be a person declared to have a major functional impairment or another recognized disability. You must also be enrolled full-time or part-time in a recognized secondary school (vocational training or adult education), college or university, and demonstrate that material resources, specialized services or adapted transportation will be required to pursue your studies.
Complete the application form for Student Financial Assistance available on the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport website. (Don’t forget to check the “Major functional impairment” box in section 5 of the form).
Don’t forget to notify Student Financial Aid of any changes to your course load, address, physical condition and/or if you decide to drop out of courses.
Timetable :
June – July: Fill out a new application for the fall intake. Make sure your fall registration is complete and your courses have all been approved.
September – December: Make sure you have your guarantee certificate if you are applying for the first time or returning to school after a break. Check that your registration for the winter term is complete and that your courses have all been approved.
January: Log in to your account and complete the Confirmation of Financial Resources form.
April: If applicable, make sure your summer term registration is complete and your courses have all been approved.
