Bursary awards ceremony

This year, over 300 students applied for the bursary program. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the students who sent in their applications. Each letter is carefully read, and your stories continue to touch us and fuel our commitment to a truly accessible post-secondary environment. The recipients of the 27th edition of our bursaries are a testament to the resilience and diversity of our student community. We invite you to learn more about their backgrounds here.

Together, let’s continue to support every academic journey and reduce financial barriers to education!

Annual general meeting (AGM)

The AGM is an opportunity for our team to share the activities led during the year as well as our upcoming projects.

This year, we welcomed Casandra Poitras to the Board of directors.

Casandra : “I am very excited to join the board of directors as Vice President of External Affairs. I am honored to play an active role in such an important mission and to help promote a cause that makes a real difference.”

UQAM Summer Institute

This summer, AQEIPS participated in the UQAM Summer Institute on “Rights, Citizenship, and Disability: Strategies for Empowerment,” held from May 14 to May 29, 2026, and taught by Victoire Bajard, a doctoral student in communication. This intensive training program aimed to develop, among students as well as practitioners from community organizations and public services, the knowledge and skills necessary for the recognition, promotion, and exercise of the rights of dDeaf and disabled people.

Structured around workshops bringing together representatives from academic, professional, and community sectors, the summer school addressed, in particular, human rights, labor law, and cultural, social, and political rights. Through case studies and an immersive simulation, AQEIPS contributed to discussions on inclusive approaches, institutional barriers, and empowerment strategies that can foster genuine recognition and full social participation for dDeaf and disabled people.

The AQEIPS team extends its warmest thanks to Victoire Bajard and the Canada Research Chair in Cultural Citizenship of Deaf People for this wonderful summer school!

The Summer School is part of the microprogram “Disability and Deafness: Rights and Citizenship,” offered every summer at UQAM’s Faculty of Communication.
