St\u00e9phane Braney (1966-2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A leader in advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A valued colleague and friend<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, St\u00e9phane joined AQEIPS as a project manager and was soon promoted to executive director. Over the next three years, he set out to revitalize the Association, which, like many others, had suffered from the onset of the pandemic in 2020. During this time, St\u00e9phane was also pursuing a graduate degree in Information Technology et Governance at T\u00e9luq university .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always brimming with inspiring projects and initiatives, he left us far too soon on January 3, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

St\u00e9phane was a force of gentleness, a visionary determined to bring about change and refuse to be intimidated by the systemic ableism of our institutions. Faced with pervasive barriers to accessing public spaces and appropriate care, St\u00e9phane led our team with good humor and unwavering kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thank him for his unwavering commitment to the rights of people with disabilities, and for all the joys\u2014big and small\u2014that he has shared with us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A ceremony will be held in May to celebrate St\u00e9phane\u2019s life. More information to come.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat a loss for the disability community. St\u00e9phane had such innovative ideas and passion for the cause that\u00a0won’t\u00a0be forgotten.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat struck me most about St\u00e9phane was his love of life. He always had something positive to say: a story to tell, an adventure with his grandchildren to share, or an update on the progress of his many projects. In a world increasingly focused on negativity and sensationalism, St\u00e9phane stood out in the best possible way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSt\u00e9phane was a valued colleague for our organization and a friend to many of us.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
